Well in Oz, "The Great Ocean Road" is known as the best motorcycle road in the country, but for me, I prefer the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory, it's over 1000 miles of pretty straight road and it'd be boring if it wasn't for the fact that there's NO SPEED LIMIT! When I put my 1166cc "K1 Kruiser" engine together I might take it for a ride to Darwin, to break it in, then "open the taps" on the way home. Hopefully it'll last the round trip, ha ha! Cheers, Terry.  ;D
terry, why are all the signs on the wrong side of the road. ???

I read about that in a history of Australia.  Seems Terry's whole family didn't know left from right and kept driving on the wrong side of the road.  As the population grew and roads got more crowded, the government decided it was easier to change the laws. That was a long time ago.

The "Cat and Fiddle" videos are cool.  It'd be nicer if they could get the camera ina position that doesn't look throught the windscreen.  And those damn cages getting in the way >:(

Naaaaaah Ernest, as usual you've got it arse about mate, you were reading the history of AUSTRIA, (where my family originated from) the rest of the story is correct though, and as you probably (don't) know, AUSTRIANS drive on the same side of the road as you "macaroons", ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

For those in Oz, just come to Tassie - it's hard to find a road you can't like!

First one is part of Lookout Mountain Road heading up to Buffalo Bill's gravesite.

Second is the road heading to the top of Mt. Evans, just south of Idaho Springs, CO.  Goes up to about 14,200 feet!  This road definitely has some killer twisties, literally.  Narrow switchback road with several-hundred feet dropoffs and no guardrails.  My new favorite!

Now that road would be nice, no trees, and I could see a ways down the road.

My bike doesnt handle all that well with the 21'' up front and the 16'' in the rear, so no big/hard twistys 4 me...
I will take a nice smooth street anyday, compared to the potholed crap streets Chicago has to offer.. ::)

Just about all the roads in Vermont are twisty.
Stay off the highways, watch for tourists and
you should be ok.

Joe, that's why we need to get out into the "real" countryside some time.  I HATE riding anywhere east of me, and almost always go to the west heading to the open roads.  Just love that area west of Saint Charles and beyond!

My favorite close by is IN 234 between US 41 and IN 47.  Just watch out for tourists :o

A little further away in southern Indiana is IN 450 between Bedford and Shoals.  Of course southern Indiana is just a smaller version of many areas in the south with hills, hollers, and twisty roads, but without the extreme elevation changes.  It's hard to not find a fun road in that part of the state.

Hey, Dave! You ever ride IN 150 between Shoals and West Baden? I haven't done it on a bike yet but it's rather interesting in a 1 ton van!  :o That IN 450 looks good on the map. Might have to try it out sometime.
If you ever find yourself closer to the Louisville area, let me know!
