Help Identifying Seat
« on: June 11, 2013, 04:52:29 PM »
So when I got my bike, I also inherited a couple boxes of random miscellaneous parts of all shapes and sizes.  One of the items was this extra seat.  My knowledge here is basically squat, but I can tell that the hinges and such are flipped to the other side (as opposed to my bike), so my only guess was that it was maybe meant for a Japanese bike (thinking left vs. right side of the road maybe?).  Anyways, as you can probably tell by that guess, I have no idea what I have here, so I was hoping someone might be able to help identify it?

Thanks!

Looks an awful lot like a CB500 or 550 seat.

The seat is in really good condition for the most part, there is one tiny rip you can see in the second pic, third rectangle back on the near side.  It's also missing the strap.  I've got a K2, with 2 hinges on it (instead of the one on this seat), and I don't really think I can get this sucker to fit on there.  Again, I'm not an expert :)  If I can't use it, I'd probably be looking to sell it, as I'd have no use for it.

That's close to my 74 550K seat pan. It doesn't have the compartment system, but the bumpers are in the same places as well as the hinge. Lock post is different.

This is a CB 500 K seat, 1971 - 1973. The CB 550 is different.
