crap. might have cooked a valve or ring.
« on: June 16, 2013, 10:15:01 AM »
I was blasting down my secret jetting-testing road; 4th gear just under redline, and the fuel level dropped below the main standpipe. I didn't realize what had happened at first so the bike ran HARD for a few seconds on vapors.
Did a compression test and I lost about 10 PSI in #3 (150, 150, 140, 150).

Now I really am grumpy  >:(

Cooked a valve or ring?

What a statement!

If you "cooked" a valve you would know it. You would have ZERO compression.
If the top piston ring broke you would hear it and you would have ZERO compression.
OR was it out of oil too?

When I worked at a Honda dealer a tech held the throttle of his bike wide open until the valves started to float, which brought the RPM Down.
