Hey everybody-

I'm looking for a spare cb750 seat. i have one that needs a cover bad, and i'd like to have it on the road in less time than it'll take to order one from NZ, where I usually get my covers. someone have a seat they pulled to go cafe or something? i have lots of stuff to trade..

i know, i know... the king and queen would really make this bike pop, too.  ::) let me check on that fender. was it on the bike i'm trying to get on the road? i'm guessing so...

Hello all! I've been reading the forum for a while now but have just found this thread. Allow me to introduce myself...

My special lady friend and I moved from San Francisco to Portland last summer after hiking 500 miles on the Appalachian Trail. To help finance the trip and move I sold three bikes (2 1978 CB400s and a 2001 Triumph Tiger (grrrr... miss it alot...)). After being broke and bikeless for waaaay too long I found the money to buy a '72 CB500 in running but not riding condition. It came with an almost complete parts bike.

As the funds come in fits and starts I'm trying to piece it back together. Unfortunately, money and motivation come to me at different times. So I haven't made very much progress. When there is no money I take off parts and clean them. Nothing has made it back on to the bike yet. When there is money I buy things and don't put them on the bike.

Is anybody looking for somebody to work their bike with? In SF I had friends to "play bike" with and it was a great motivator. I'm in Sellwood/Brooklyn neighborhood (Holgate and Milwaukie). Anyone around here? Want to play bike?

hey spatman. welcome! i have a full shop to play around in with friends ( ;D), so i'll have to pass on playing in brooklyn, but feel free to stop by sometime. we're up in inner NE, at 18th and glisan. we're having our summer party and ride on august 28th, so look out for the invite thread which i'll get around to posting sometime soon.

Just spent the last 4 days in BEAVER-ton (unfortunately stayed at the Shilo on 8, right next to Hotties and the rest   :D)  A nice place to stay with the fam.  ::)
I gotta tell you Orygun'ians...you've got a nice clean city there in Beaverton.

Yeah...my 7 and 4 year old boys thought the glowing flames on the Hotties building were 'cool'   :D

ahh...super busy.
didnt see any hondas around. spied a few bonnies tho..

Beat out all the OR teams,  :P sorry, but lost 3-2 to another WA team. Fkn hacks!
they are on to Nationals in Tucson. Bummer for us.  Season is over.

Saw a HUGE co-ed softball collision at Tualatin Hills fields on sat.  the girl lost.  reports were she was 5 min unc, and broken ankle.  :o :o  f'n 'macho' guy.  he was going for her fly ball. totally his fault.
even 'beer-leagues' can be rough.

not all a bad weekend tho..

Spent too much $ at the NIKE employee store. 
Wish they had a Jimmy Johns up here.   :D
and i just gained 8 hrs per week to do BIKE/family stuff  ;D

Just picked up a 77 CB550 Four...beautiful and almost stock.  20k mi.  I am in North Portland.  This bike will be my primary transportation second to the car. 

Used to race modern sportbikes, always wanted one of these.  Just put cafe drop bars on it.  It needs the carbs gone thru and a little spit polish, bits of touch up, new speedo cable.  Has a bit of an oil leak from somewhere er other.

After finding somone to do the carbs I am interested in doing a few basic things with it and would love to get your thoughts and recommendations.  Would like fat sticky tires for it.  Also interested in changing the front fork oil and perhaps springs at some point.  Rear shocks look aftermkt and feel pretty good, front is a wee bit soft and plush.  Would also drop the forks in the triples a little.  Stainless steel brake lines and grabby front brake pads.

Attached is a picture as purchased, just has black cafe bars added.

Q's if you have some info to share:

Where is a good place to order a speedo cable?
Ditto stiffer fork springs?
Ditto stainless steel brake lines?
What are good F brake pads to use, and ditto where to get them?
What weight/level of oil would be recommended for the forks?
What are wide sticky tires that will go on the orig 18" rear 19" front (has Avons now)?  Where to get them as well?
MOST IMPORTANTLY are there any inexpensive local people in the Pacific NW/Portland OR area that can go thru the carbs for me?

Are there get togethers in our area?  The pictures of your bikes are GREAT, just got on here and spent a few hrs looking at them!

I send people to Doc Browns for parts, at 16th and Sandy. Convenient for us because it's blocks away, but he's a great guy.

yeah I didn't ride very far and I took my superhawk instead of the cafe. I cracked a rib playing basketball on monday and the pain was making it difficult to ride. So I took the bike that absorbs the bumps better. Still hurt though but it was a beautiful day I could not avoid getting out.

I have nothing but good things to say about superhawks. I have had mine for almost 5 years, I have ridden it for thousands of miles and it now shows 55k on odometer and it still charges like a bull. It doesn't vibrate at all, not in a buzzy way at least it churns down the road and you can feel each pulse but it doesn't put anything to sleep. They are the last of their kind, a bike you can work on yourself without special tools or a masters degree in computer tech. They last for hundreds of thousands of miles (as long as you fix the two main problems ahead of time). They run on regular gas, and get 45mpg on the freeway when tuned right, sound wicked and can still be ridden long distance or short distance or at the track so if you can't afford lots of different bikes that do each thing better it is an overall awesome bike which makes it an awesome street bike. Some might argue it is not competitive at the track and they would be right since the suspension actually absorbs bumps but for the street they are hard to beat in how practical they can be, oh and most insurance companies rate them as sport touring bikes rather than sport bikes so that costs less too.
