don't know if i'll be able to go as far as astoria, but i'll try. i could suggest a shorter route but i don't want to discourage you from doing your solid ride.. how about this: burnside to skyline, right on cornell, but cut left on thompson which goes back up to skyline. if we have slower riders, if would give a good detour for the faser riders, and the slower people could just stay on skyline and wait at thompson. right on mcneely (past germantown), which goes down to hwy 30 just before cornelius pass. go back up cornelius pass to skyline, and then head out to scappose where skyline ends. if anyone wants to go for a shorter ride, rock creek hits skyline somewhere on that stretch. otherwise, we could go to scappose, and take scappose/vernonia hwy to 47, then 47 to 26 at forest grove.
this would basically be a fun way to get to vernonia, and if you want to go to mist and on to astoria from there you'd be well on your way. it also provides plenty of catch-up and cool-off spots for those with different paces. it more or less zigzags on and off of skyline for much of the time. hell, for that matter there are more zigzags to add if we wanted.
