Been riding a '76 cb400f for a couple years now, live in northeast pdx (alberta st), looking for others who are down to ride on the weekends or whenever really. The weather is starting to get really nice and I'm itching to head out into the gorge or towards the coast... anyone have any rides to suggest?

I also live up off of alberta street with a 400f (blue, very stock w/ black headers at the moment). We should definitely hook up to ride, we have a few other kids on similar bikes. I went out to the gorge last weekend and will probably go again today. I'll shoot you a message

you guys are funny. we'll see.. after saying that yesterday, i discovered that the nut on my lower transmission mount had vibrated loose and fallen off.  i seriously need enough time to go through every bolt with loctite. i'll try to tonight, but it's a busy day...

i can't imagine what riding an atlas is like, with the engine solid mounted to the frame (like it should be). the isolastic mounting system was designed to reduce the vibrations transmitted to the frame, but the engine is still trying to shake itself to death. it really isn't all that vibey to ride. much less so than the triumph and BSA i had.

i've seen your bike around. i live just on the other side of vancouver in nopo, but am in that neighborhood a lot. just went to the know tonight for moto galore's movie night... some great bikes there. some by the shop sometime? 525 NE 19th, behind black sheep bakery.

Yup, that's me! Haven't been riding much lately though b/c I keep my bike at a friends garage up near Lombard (not too far from where I'm at, but not exactly walking distance to pick it up)... anyone know of any covered parking for rent on NE Alberta (preferably within a few blocks of 16th)?

i don't, but for future reference parking spots come up at the shop if you're ever interested. not quite where you're looking, but it's dry, safe, and has power for a battery tender.

I was there and so was Staggerlee, so you crashed right after first gas stop? Was it on those roads single lane with no lines?

You were not the only one. Staggerlee and I helped to pull a Ducati 848 out of the mud. He had flown off of the road on a left hander. Later we were stopped just yacking and a guy on his triumph triple almost hit his buddy who was being a tad indecisive and the guy on the triumph dumped it to avoid hitting his pal. Well with around 100 motorcyclists on some of the more technical roads in the area it was bound to happen.

How is the bike?.. oh and you since you didn't give us the full 1000 words or more report.

Yeah after the first gas stop. I was following a couple riders, and came to a 90 degree left right before it goes to single lane, and there were two riders stopped on the side of the road, and I couldn't tell the degree of the turn. I was in a bad spot, and wasn't going to make the turn, and tried to ride it out through the grass, hit a bump and dumped it on the left side.

Bikes only got some minor stuff to fix. bent bars, Headlight tabs, shifter lever bent, tail light broke, rear cowl is cracked but usable. some scratches but actually good to go with new lights.

I rode it home, passed like 6 cops and got lucky and didn't get stopped.

Quite the "Sporty" crowd! sorry I missed it. Didn't go to Everett either. Did manage to put about 120 miles on a previously non-running Virago tho...first time on the road in 15 yrs, from Oregon City, to Portland, then out to Bald Peak Road and the Wine Valley scenic route, took a lap around Henry Hagg Lake, down to Newberg, then back to Portland. Lots of nice picnic areas around Hagg Lake, we should haul a keg out there and have races around the lake. Put about 60 miles on my other previously non running Virago today, did a freeway trip down 5 to 205, over the bridge to 14 back to 5 and home. Now I can focus on the 750A.

Heh...we stopped in at the first boat ramp, I was amused by the big wooden sign that said, under "Boating Rules"...."all waterskiing must be done in a counter-clockwise direction"...for a moment I imagined a speaker system playing roller skating music across the whole lake and some guy saying "only girls", "only boys", "all ski"....and the sheriff's boat writing tickets for skiing clockwise on a counter clockwise lake....
