KC,
Sorta went thru the same thing with NOS 341's four years ago. My crossover tubes wouldn't line up on the right side; had to grind a little off of each to be able to get the footpeg bolt through. I was more than a little "agitated" to have to mod brand new pipes.

OK, so you didn't hear the scream from northern Minnesota, but did you hear all the swearing?
I came up with new combinations for swear words. Some were quite creative.

I removed both right side pipes and went at them with a die grinder.   I removed about a quarter inch
from the bolt mount on the outside pipe and also another quarter inch from the mount on the inside
pipe.  I spent about 2 hours messing with them.  I also ground the inner pipes mounting hole a little
oblong to get the pipe to move to the rear slightly. I just finished a test mounting and have the rear
crossover connection pretty close now.  I quite for today, so tomorrow I will do the final mounting.

I tightened the spigot clamp on the inside pipe and was surprised that it doesn't seem to hold the pipe
real tight.  I have the clamp as tight as it can go, but can still move the pipe if I push hard on it.
how firm should those clamps hold the pipe??

I had the same symptoms on the aftermarket pipes. Reason: the metal used in the flare collar is thinner than on the OEM pipes. I got some shim brass sheet from ACE Hardware and cut a strip, wrapped it around the inside of the pipe where it slips over the header collar, works great!

Thanks Mark,   I was thinking of ways to shim them, but wasnt quite sure if that was a good idea.
Ive got some sheet metal that I can make some shims out of.  Question about the pipes mounting
to the spigots,  do they need to be fully seated?  I have one or two that are about a quater inch from
being fully seated.  Is that OK or would they leak.

KC, beautiful build, I've been following. what a damper to get to this point with he legendary 300 pipes and be foiled by Honda terrible late tooling. I hope you get it resolved. I don't know that I am qualified to speak on the subject but my pipes were all fully seated. took some wiggling and a big rubber mallet but I got them all on flush. I was wondering if that was some of the initial problem but if the peg holes are lining up then its not it ;)

good luck man I can't wait to nominate this thing

Thanks Chef,

Yea, it looks like you and I have both come up against some obstacles right at the end of the
builds.  Oh well, no one said it was gonna be easy.  Looks like I have this problem licked though.
I'm gonna work on it today.  If I can get the pipes on its time to start her up.  Hondaman did my
engine build, so I'm not worried about problems there, but after getting the engine back from
him I took off the engine covers for polishing. I'm sure it was oil tight after he rebuilt it, but
we'll see how it does after me messing with the covers!  I've seen the problems you have been
having.  Looks like you have them mostly licked though.  I have been watching your build and it
has given me inspiration to git er done!  Your bike is beautiful!  Love that color. I gave ya a vote.
