Wiring Harness Connectors
« on: May 24, 2013, 04:57:53 PM »
I have my wiring all sorted out now I just need to clean everything up and put more permanent connections. What are the connectors call that are 2, 4, 6, 8 bullets called and where (USA) can I get them local? Im talking about the connectors that join either 2 parts of a harness together or from an after market taillight to the rest of the harness. Thanks ahead of time

Check out this site: http://www.vintageconnections.com/

They should have what you're looking for.

Yeah I'd order them online.  I looked all over for a local source where I live, and no major or small retailers had them.  They're an obsolete connector I think.

Getting ready to rebuild my 550. The original wiring seems to be working okay, but I'm still thinking about redoing the wiring for reliability. So I get that the bullet connector is correct for originality, but what would you use for more "modern" electronic connectors?

+1

Definitely get the crimper or try to borrow one.  It makes an absolute world of difference when attaching the connectors.  If you are doing any custom work I would buy more than you need.  I wasted a few connectors on my build.

If you want to convert to modern connectors you can get GM weather pak connectors. They are slightly expensive but a lot of racers use them. Generic kits are available.

I just finished a complete 550 harness rebuild and used the guys below for all my connectors. You can get twice what you need in the $4.95 flat rate P1 box.  I'd recommend getting extras.  They shipped same day as order USPS P1.
