proteal, do you have a problem with gas eating the paint?
i primered my tank black and it looked awesome till a bit of gas got past my crappy cap gasket and dripped down the side.
Gas is the enemy with rattlecan or any paintjob for that matter.
Everytime I fill the bike up, I follow the same process:
1. Remove handle from gas pump
2. Point downwards to shake out/drain any gas (their is always some) on the ground instead of on your tank
3. Take tip of nozzle and cup my hand around it to prevent any spillage/droppage onto tank
4. Apply low pressure to fill tank , to avoid any random spillage
5. Cover nozzle as I put it back to the pump itself
6. Don't overfill / fill to top to avoid sloshing - and possible leakageSounds anal, but I have just gotten into a habit of doing this.
And to answer your question , yet, I have had gas spill onto the tank and ruin the paintjob.
The engine enamel paint I have on their now takes allot more than just primer will.
If it gets messed up , just take the tank off , sand it down , and re-spray...
