Fork caps
« on: May 25, 2013, 03:00:22 PM »
I would like to close off what I think are(or were) air nipples in these fork caps that I am using on the GL1000 front end I am putting on my k3. Any suggestions how to do so greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I'd plug 'em with a shrader valve and a cross-over tube and enjoy the fact that you have a K3 with air forks!

If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Hmm, I am thinking of drilling out the nipples and installing set screws with o rings. I am using Racetech springs and gold valve emulators. I would be surprised if air pressure stays constant in a fork leg. Seems to me it would be like a tire with a slow leak, but I have no personal experience.

It takes about 2 weeks for the air to leak down 50% if the fork seals are good. The top air pressure should only be about 7 PSI (10 with 2-up riding). At about 3-4 PSI it stops oil weeps from the [good] fork seals quite well!
