Engine swap into a 78 550K
« on: August 01, 2006, 09:16:19 PM »
I need to put an engine in my 78 CB 550K until I can rebuild the bottom end on this one (over the winter).  I see two eligibles on ebay this week, one a 74, 4688 mi, and the other a 76, mileage unknown. Do these engines swap into the 78 K okay or are the K's different in some way? Appreciate your advice.
Time is short!

yes. i have a '78K engine in my '76F frame. keep your intakes though, as they and the attaching rubber insulators are different for the PD46C carbs than for the 022A and 069A carbs (which would be on anything but a '77-'78K).

Everything EXCEPT the carbs and manifolds is exactly the same (excluding any Honda production mods I dont know about)
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
