Found a 75 CB750 for $45!
« on: July 20, 2013, 12:32:16 PM »
Found this diamond in the rough,(make that very rough) last Thurs. Hi everybody. I am from Abilene, TX. Been riding street since 1990 or so and dirt for many years before that. I have been working on a 72 CB450 for several months. I have been checking out this forum for a while and thought since I now have a SOHC I will post a few pics. This thing aint pretty. Missing a bunch of parts. Some cut wires and cables. Nice coat of house paint on the tank. Some fancy copper paint on the controls, gas cap etc. Applied with a brush might I add. Someone also sprayed a can of silver paint on the entire engine, exhaust, wheels, tires and every surrounding area. Nice. Oh I forgot the sweet custom flames. Engine is locked up. I had some acetone and ATF so I tried that yesterday. She just will not kick over. Perhaps another method will work better. If I can free up the engine, I plan on doing this one a brat style low seat with clip-ons and rear sets. Any way here are some pics.

The comstar has got to go.

What bike is that points cover from?

I can't figure out what this exhaust is from.

Welcome from Lake Travis.  Have seen that exhaust before, don't remember the manufacturer. Would look better black.
Keep soaking the cyl with ATF/acetone, pour in every day for a week and rock it in third gear. Kicking it won't work.
Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. I have been lucky and have not had to deal with a seized engine until now. This 750 and a XJ550 Seca I acquired at the same time need to be freed up.
