oil pump modification
« on: May 05, 2008, 03:27:51 PM »
Is the stock oil pump enough to sustain a CB750 engine with an 836 kit and fitted with an oil cooler and a larger than stock oil bladder? or is there modifications that I should consider doing to the oil pump or oil passages?
thanks
f.

Mine does just fine....

As far as the bladder goes....its dry sump.

Size shouldn't affect it.

We used to put a .030 washer between the relief valve spring and its end cap in the oil pump for a few extra pounds pressure.

Hello Lads,

Just joined your site and found this discussion thread, just the very question I have on my mind.
The reason I ask is because my overbored CB836cc with CR oil cooler has started to smoke like a B****d.

My concern is that the smoking is down to wet sumping due to fall back from the extended, external oil line from the return outlet to the oil cooler. I say concern, that would be the best scenario I think.

Either that or it's seepage from the valve seals.....although I did replace them in the rebuild.

Thoughts welcome...Cheers.
