Slight blubber with a cracked throttle (CB550)
« on: May 31, 2013, 10:17:47 AM »
Bike is running pretty good and looking great!.....only small issue i have is a blubber at 1/4 from a dead stop....so I'll pull up to a stop sign or light and when I have to accelerate I have to give it about 1/2 throttle just to clear the blubbering and hold the clutch a little and then it's perfect....no hesitation or issues once it's rolling......an idea how to clear this? ONLY HAPPENS IN FIRST FROM A DEAD STOP

A/F mixture might be off at idle. check plug deposits. all mixture screws need to be set the same.
too much oil on pods?
recheck emulsion tubes and pilot jets for blockages.
verify float height is correct.  if its too high, it will starve your pilot circuit.
have you done: valves/timing/advance/cam chain/vacuum sync of carbs?

And the air screw setting is...?
Have you looked at the spark plug deposits?
Have you over oiled the air filter? (You cannot squeeze out or blot out too much oil after application.)

What's been done to the air box drain and filter box hoses?

What is the condition of the engine breather components?

Who manufactured the slow jet and slide needle currently installed?

Have you verified that the main emulsion tube is clean and uncorroded?

Are the main jets properly sealed in the carb "towers"?

What float height setting was installed?
