Clutch issues w noise cb500 (please help)
« on: May 28, 2013, 11:42:24 AM »
Just bought a cb500 motor of a guy. This weekend I awoke it from its 10+yr nap. When I went to take off and use the clutch, the thing just coughed on itself and died.

I am also hearing a faint ticking noise while the miter is running coming from the kicker. ( like the ratchet gear inside is still engaged.) I can feel it too once I put my hand on the kicker. Motor is running strong w good pep.

Anyone have any ideas before I start taking this apart..? Anything would help
Thanks Matt

Well found this along the mix....A broken clutch rod...Put a new one in off a spare motor and still having the same issues. I have looked at the clutch as well and everything seems ok. Disks look all good.

I have adjusted my cb550 motor on my other bike w no problems...I know this is a little different on a cb500. With it being internal. Do I maybe not have the right cable or just not adjusting if correctly..?

Really am stumped...anyone have anything? :-\

Thanks
Matt

Even when the motor is off and it is in gear, i can squeeze the clutch all the way and it still wont let me roll forward.... Anyone know why it would do this? It seems like the clutch is not releasing..
