Two layers of duck tape works just as good. That is all my local Honda shop uses unless you demand different. That is all I ever use. Works fine you still need to file any sharp edges no matter what you use.

It was a loose fit... I didn't like it ..
Vinyl tape (electrical) did the trick.

I used that silicone plumbers tape that looks like wide electrical tape. No residue and sticks like a mofo to itself, I was/am pleased

IT would be a lot of work and it needs to lay flat and cover all of the spokes.
Way too much work. 754's suggestion is much better. Electrical tape. Just use the whole roll.

why spend the money when you can use duct tape if you already have a roll around the house

Prefer to do things proper. When I order a tire, I simply order a tube and a strip at the same time, so its not like I'm ordering just a strip.
Bought a new DID rim for my Z1, a rim strip came with it. Why didn't they just include some tape?
Probably 'cause spoked rims were designed to use rim strips.

I have used a layer of tape and the old rim stip a couple of times. I wondered when I was laying the tape down though that when it turns to a goo on the adhesive in the future how hard it would be to turn the adjuster nipple later on if the spokes ever need an adjustment--Hmm      The little things in life to ponder.

I got the plumbers tape bjbuchanan is talking about - used it for wire harness - but I can see how well it would work for the wheel too.

Couldn't get a rim strip and my new "good" one broke apart just by practically looking at it, so there the right way ::) local places didn't have it, they all said why didn't you order one

1.50 for a strip, 8 for shipping and wait a week for it or just use a pliable tape that leaves no residue behind?

Bustin me up over here, lol

But honestly, sometimes if you're just tryin to get back in the saddle and you live out in the sticks like me, 30 minutes away from any real shop, and it's Sunday & the shop's closed anyway...it's good to know that you can make a veritable substitute from household materials. Done it several times on bicycles so I figured it would be no different...700c x 23 bike rims are juiced up to 100psi and tape still gets ya down the road. Party on Garth
