Hey guys, figured id introduce myself here! The name is Matt and I'm here in wonderful central Illinois. I recently was gifted a 74 CB350f from a friend after he dropped off with me to see if I could get her running. She's been sitting in the back of a garage for who knows how long. He got scared by the work needed, so his loss is my gain! I pulled the tank (has some rust inside) and gave it a fresh oil change. She cranks but a very weak spark. Figure Id pull the carbs and go through them, get some new points and whatnot. Id like to ask is there anything I should be very aware of? Certain common failures or parts that you just can't get anymore? I ask because I also have an 85 VT700c that I had the pleasure of rebuilding. Not a very easy bike to get factory parts for anymore! I'm pretty unfamiliar with the CB world, but I'm psyched to get into it! I am a mechanic, so technical knowledge is always welcome! But being only 26 does tend to put me at a slight disadvantage when it comes to these vintage bikes haha. Sorry for the ramble, main questions:
Best place for carb parts? Trying to stick as close to factory as possible
After I get the rust from the tank, whats the best option? Line it?
Thanks in advance for the help, this forum seems like a super awesome place to get some knowledge. The clymer only shows so much!
