I am thinking of running the same Tech/speedo combo. How are you liking it? Also, where did you mount your GPS receiver?

Thanks!!  Gheorghe - I love this speedo/tach unit, actually looking to switch it up and get a couple smaller ones to try something different, still from Speedhut though.  I mounted the GPS receiver to the inside of one of the side covers with double sided tape.  Velcro would be a smarter choice so you can pull it off easier.  Next time I'm going to request the shorter GPS cable, this one is 15' and I think they have a 5' one for motorcycles.

Stilltime - As everyone else is say, "Really great looking bike".

Recently I spoke with SpeedHut for a speedo/tach for my BMW project. They advised me that the smallest GPS speedo they have, that still has an odometer in it is 4". They have some really beautiful 2-1/16" units that are GPS-based, but they don't have space for the LCD display until they get to 4".

Don't know if you discover anything different, but if you do, please post it up. I ended up going with MotoGadget Tiny for that build as a result, but have 2 other bikes that I'm seriously looking through the Speedhuts for...

The smallest GPS speedometer that I see they offer with the LCD is the 3-3/8" one, which is an option too.  I tried to have them sell me a 3-3/8" tach, but include the GPS speedometer guts just to display speed in the LCD but they didn't sound too keen >:(

I follow you on IG, and now it's time to follow this build thread too. Finally some substance/words to your project!

Everything looks great man. You definitely did not skimp on this build. I haven't really seen much coverage on your taillight. Is it incorporated in the rear hoop?

Keep up the good work, and keep this thread updated. It's inspiring me to start working on my CB550 project!

Thanks, Tim!  The taillight is a RadientZ Z-Flex, it sticks onto the outside of the tube.  It's pretty bright, but I'm changing it pretty soon.

Since I can't ride it yet, I decided to sync the carbs on Saturday.  I had synced them last summer with the Mac 4-1 so I figured it would be close but wow it was way off!

Idles perfect and throttle is nice and crisp.  I took a video with my camera, and posted it on Facebook, but haven't figured out how to get it on my phone yet...

I imagine that with the right gauges, syncing the carbs is a simple deal. Is that accurate? I still need to do that to mine but I have to buy the darn gauges first.

Riverfever - I had read some pretty great reviews on the Morgan CarbTune, and it does work very well!  It is the only one I've used, so nothing to compare to, but it was very easy to rear the level of each carb and adjust.

New GPS speedo and matching tach ordered, hopefully I like these a little better!  Not going to like giving up my trip odometer and relying on hitting reserve every time I need to fill up :(

Original dash plate vs new vs none.  My current one isn't shown in the 3D model...

Still not 100% set on the new 2-up dash plate.  Will be waterjet from .09" stainless #4 finish.

I'm liking the direction you are going with the gauges. The smaller speedhut gauges are excellent, too bad they don't have an odometer though.

Waterjet the last few parts, and formed the taillight brackets this afternoon.  Dropping these off for powdercoat and should be finished this week. Just need to wire the new taillights after that, and once the new gauges come in, wire those up.

Picked up the last of the parts from powdercoat to finally finish it up.  Greased all the points on the drum, slid the new shoes on, bolted everything together, went to attach the brake arm as the *last* thing, and it turns out not only did the hub and drum change in '77, but the spline diameter on the pivot shaft was also beefed up dramatically!!
