Stilltime's CB550 Project
« Reply #125 on: April 15, 2014, 02:35:10 PM »
CB750 Cafe Racer Fan - the SpeedHut GPS Speedometer comes with a hotwired GPS sender, always powered (pulls very little juice, never had a problem with it) so GPS is ready to go once you start your bike.  I routed it back to my side covers and stuck it to the inside of it with some Velcro.  They suggest not mounting it directly under steel, so that's why I chose the side cover.

Their custom gauge builder has worked great for me on my computer and phone, try another source!!  It really is nice to get them exactly how you want.  Also, keep digging in their products ;)  they do offer them with idiot lights, and will even out place little oil/high beam/engine symbols next to them if you ask nicely!

Edit:  Yes I ran the GPS speedometer all summer last season and never had any issues.  It (seems) extremely accurate, no delay in the needle speed for speedo or tach.  I liked it so much I ordered different gauges from them!  They're shipping tomorrow.  You lose signal going through a tunnel or under some large overpasses but that never bothered me, they tell you on the site that will happen.

Has your bike been nominated for botm? If not may I be the first for next month?

Tews, I'd be honored!  It snowed today, but hopefully I'll get a chance in the next few days to take it for a shoot.

I really appreciate it!  It's been a fun time getting it to this point.

Gauges finally came in!!  Still need to wire them up, but this was much needed to clean up the front end.  Might play around with the clip-on positions too.

Wish I could get them pointed back a little more, but they would hit the tank.  Lowering them helps, but not sure how low I want them to be.

If you haven't voted yet, go vote for Bike of the Month!!!  (As long as it's for me ;)  )

Next big thing will be to finish the design for my subframe, either keeping twin shocks or possibly mono shock.  And to design and fab a swingarm...

Sure is!  I don't feel like I have that great of a chance haha...  Don't quite have the rep or following of some of the other members!  They're all beautiful bikes though.  I figured voting would have ended last night though?

NHK steering damper mounted!  Caved and installed on left side for easy adjustment.

I REALLY need to make/buy a longer kickstand after putting the 14" shocks out back...  Any suggestions?

Mine has always seemed a little short (talking about my kickstand). I've been meaning to remove it, cut it in half, and sleeve it to make it a little longer.

I've seen adjustable (universal) kickstands:
