Made a newby mistake need HELP.
« on: June 06, 2013, 02:03:04 PM »
I over tightened my main jet holder into the carb and not only bent the tube but warped the brass piece inside the carb that the needle passes through. Can I fix this piece in the carb or not? Any help would awesome.

Did you just damage the brass emulsion tube only and not the carb body also. Usually the carb body will manifest its damage with a crack. Be sure to check the other 3 well for cracks if they got cranked hard also.

I've got you on a couple too if you need them. These things are only meant to be snugged down, it doesn't have to be "screwed in" all the way flush. Be careful with carbs you don't have to really crank on anything in them, finger tight is practically good enough

First time i saw wavy emulsion tubes I was confused as all hell how it happened, then I saw pics on this forum from other guys and it clicked

Luckily only did it to one of them, so I could use one. But I also damaged the brass insert inside the carb so it looks like I need to punch in a new insert or find a new #3 carb body. Know anybody who has one of those for sale?
