Waayyy Too Much Money and Waayyy Too Much Time On Their Hands.

I applaud those who experiment to make things better and even those who may add a few
cylinders but those 2 bikes, Come On!!!! My Opinion.  Later on, Bill

I guess there are always some folks who are inclined towards thinking, "I wonder if I could <fill in the blank>?"

Might be where some previous inventions came from. ;)

Could be Bob.

There was this Jap guy in the 60's thought "I wonder if I could get an across-the-frame four cylinder engine in a bike frame - and fit one of those disk brakes like we have on cars..."

Doesn't it always boil down to "I/we built it because I could....."? Case in point:

Experimenting to see if something can be done is one thing but, I wonder how many bike are junked out to do things like that? I thought it was pretty cool when I saw things like an Indian Four that was enlarged to a Six. Then there was the 5 cylinder Kawasaki MachIII and also the 8 cylinder Kawasaki Z1. The Chrysler Tomahawk w/ the Viper V10 was interesting but, was starting to make me wonder "What's Next?" Now 48 cylinders, don't you think that that's a bit much? Why not 50 or 100?
Make that sucker much longer and you'll have to put a hinge in the middle or add rear wheel steering.

Better go, I'm starting to hallucinate. ::) ::)

..............or add rear wheel steering.

Wasn't mandatory rear wheel steering a threat by the NHSA (or somesuch) in the US, in the '70s?

No matter how much it costs, somethings are just dumb to do. Neither one of those mechanical abortions are rideable in any way.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people  ???

It seems to me the person who engineered and built that thing has sufficiently demonstrated he is not stupid.  The impulse to do something like that is related to the one that makes people want to see what's over the next hill, climb a mountain, or walk on the moon.  It represents curiosity and willingness to take on a challenge.  You will find people who will poo-poo the effort because it means nothing to them, but I see it as an admirable human trait.

Smart people do stupid things.

I wouldn't argue with that.  But c'mon, man, a 48 cylinder motorcycle.  That's cool...

Well, it is better than that thing w/ 2 blowers and those dufuss looking pipes. I'll have to give it
      that. I have had thoughts of a 500 or a 550 with 2 motors (1 w/o the trans, of course) but, that's
as far as I would even consider going myself. Later on, Bill

Allan Millyard make some pretty impressive motorcycles. They are pretty wild but not "tacky" wild like some of the bikes shown here. His bikes all are pretty clean and resemble a stock motorcyle.
Heres a link to a V-12 Kawasaki that he built. Hes built other bikes (do a search on Allan Millyard).

Now, that's what I was talking about. I did forget about the 12 cyl. Kawasaki but, it looks like it could have come that way.

Nice try Steve, if I could do it, I would but it wouldn't have a sidecar attached. The set up in my avatar isn't mine. It's similar to what I'm working on though. When I'm finished and can get some picture, I'll post them.

Later on guys,  Bill  :) ;)

Good points by one and all.

These 'creations' (except allan Millyards) do for nothing for me, not least because they are not practical for riding. But I do not think we can lambast the creators for trying something different. If they can make something that works, albeit not in a way you or I would choose, then good on them. And there is always someone out there with enough $$ who will buy the creation just because it is different.

Make something off the wall and call Jay Leno; he'll be sure to buy it!

Do you know the Muench Mammut?
Originally manufactured by Friedel Muench in a small series, 1966 in Germany.
He used NSU car parts to build it (headlight, engine)
The yellow Mammut is an awesome modification I have seen it at a classic meet.
I really like it!
The mammut project has been relaunched in 2000 and it closed after the production of 15 machines.
