I assumed that was mostly CGI when I saw the movie, since the thing reminded me of the Chrysler Tomahawk.  I am surprised it is a ridable machine.

Greg, I had the same thoughts when I was told about the machine a few hours ago.
I had never seen the film and didn't have a clew what the guy was talking about.
After seeing the video, it looks like it might be a bit of a hand full. ;D ;D ;D
The bike is a replica of the one in the film and the company that commissioned it to be built had a replica Bat Car built a few years ago to do promotional work.
Even before the car was finished, they had a mega offer from a rich Arab oil Sheik to buy it and it was sold on.
I'll know more next week when I have seen the bike.

Heavy, small motor and slow. Controlling the bike will take a little practice. The wheels better be balanced well. Lots of wind resistance. I'm thinking about 19 seconds and under 60 mph Not much steering required. Just good brakes to slow it down. Not impressed with the suspension, so the smoother the track the better. My one question (that every sane person would ask) is WHY?

You mean you get to ride it for free? Go for it.

This one?

http://gadgetsin.com/batman-batpod-custom-motorcycle-on-the-road.htm

The Batpod motorcycle features an all-metal bodywork and the drivetrain from an Aprilia Mana 850, and comes with two custom tires measuring 18 x 13 inches.

I can't see why you would be apprehensive at all!!! :o

Looks like fun though.

Why take a 400A with very big tires down a dragstrip? Sam, you're uniquely qualified in knowing how to launch a Hondamatic down the dragstrip. With a tired motor it may do a few ticks over 60 mph I'm sticking with high 19's. With a fresh motor it could go a second quicker and 10 more mph. They probably didn't gear it anywhere near right. Lugging all that weight with the wrong gearing will really heat up the oil. Don't plan on back to back runs. Your external oil cooler isn't just for looks. Give it plenty of cool down time between passes. Pictures or it didn't happen.....

Now that would be a head turner passing by you on the road!!! I hope you ditch the cape idea though Sam!! A gal I know out here in Cali just healed up from getting her pants caught up in an open primary belt on an old Harley panhead. Opened the back of her lower leg up as well. I'm not a fan of loose clothing/jewelry around machinery.Might be cool for a few runs down the strip though. Be safe....have fun and....VIDEO!!!!
