Carb Setup : 76' 550K. Unifilter Pods, 4-2 exhaust
« on: August 01, 2006, 10:51:41 pm »
Does anybody have this same setup?

76' CB550K . Unifilter Pods (the ones w/ the chrome caps) and a 4 into 2 exhaust.

If someone does (or close) and if they would be able to offer a good starting point for mains, clip position, pilot screw adjustment
it would be greatly appreciated.

My 550 is at my folks house and I'm heading back there to take a long road trip on it so I'll have limited time before I leave to tweak
the carb setup.

Thanks everyone!

My setup is strictly stock, so no comments on carb tweeking.  But for your trip, you might want to follow this thread too.

Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

I have uni pods and 4 into 1 exhaust.  Had to go from stock 100 main to 125 main needle on middle slot.  Also need to change my pilot jets, there on the way so I cant say which one I'll end up using.  Couldnt get idle mixture rich enough with stock 40 pilot jet.         You can get main jets at crc2onlinecatalog.com         pilots at atvupgrade.com

...I 2nd bruce's recommendation...I have 1/4 exhaust and am running 125's.  I don't think u'r 4/2 exhaust will make much difference.  At the end of the day its all about reading the plugs...

I am running uni-filters and a 4-1 exhaust. I recently re-jetted my carbs to 110s, clip in the lowest position, and the mixture screws 1 turn out. This settup was way too rich. There would be black puffs when ever i would get on it. I dropped it down to 105 and raised the clip up one notch. Now it runs great with great pull. I might in the future put the clip down to the lowest notch just to see if it makes a difference. Hope it helps, its really just a lot of playin around.
