Been looking for similar colors in high heat paint, no luck. Looks like there will be allot of black with some camo covers, I'm not sure if the camo paint will work long term on the lower casings but I'm willing to give it a go.

Doesn't duplicolor have a huge assortment of high temp paint that could work?

Been looking through the Duplicolor product list, didn't see anything that would match, I could do it in laquer but the greens will cook out to a lime color... maybe I can just black out the jugs and the head.

Took down a presumed low miler 550 tonight.... looks pretty darn good for a change, should go back together nicely. Camo'd the upper half of the case will get to the bottom half tomorrow.

Bottom half of the case is painted, innards are squeaky clean , blacken the jugs tomorrow.

Everything went in the lower case nicely so I zipped it up. Painted the jugs cast iron color,instead of the old standby-black. I think I like it. Cleaned up the head , should get some cast iron paint on that tomorrow.

Oh, no worries here, it always happens, I split every motor I get a hold of, give it a good goin over and scrub every part, change any part that looks worn. This way I know what I got. Normally I change out primary and cam chain reguardless, but this engine had like no miles, nice and tight , no big carbon build ups, no crap in the hard to get to areas, cylinder walls were just perfect, it's like someone fired it up and ran it for a few hours 35 years ago and turned it off in the heated garage. what a pleasure.
Alright pics, it's not complete yet, I' going through the tappets tomorrow, but this is what I got.

That should fit the bike very well.

I was too scared to take my engine apart. The inside of mine was sparkly clean and only had 14k on it. It looked as if someone went through it recently.

Saw a neat paint job several years ago that was dazzling in the sun. Try this sometime...
Bright Corvette Yellow with small silver metalflake in a couple layers of the clear with about 6 light clear coats over those layers. The silver picks up the yellow and is almost blinding in bright sun. It almost glows from a distance and sparkles up close.
The camo bike is looking cool.

Looks really good digging the camo wish I had more time / funds and I'd challenge to to an engine build off, but from the look of things I get whipped in short order. Keep up the good work! It might be cool if you could score some ammo cans for side bags.

Oh, I was really hoping to use those Shoei boxes that have been up in the rafters, heck I even have the small box that went on the sissy/rack that I was wanting to mount on the utility rack on the sidecar.
Maybe if I could score a mounted dead 50 cal.... , that may detract attention from those boxes.

Chewy, I was thinking about what you said..... a challenge....I'm a sucker for those. I know you have a entire 750 that is slated for rebuild, you know I have a 550 that is slated for rebuild.... maybe a low buck challenge? A certain style challenge? A stock challenge? An other than stock challenge... mild chopper ,mild cafe,or whatever it ends up being challenge, or a time challenge. Whatever, sounds like fun.
They'll be no losers only winners. It'll give us the incentive to do our very best with what we have, and we should end up with decent rides in the end. I haven't made it to BOTM yet either , and we traded these machines even, so we should consider this a common ground start.
Some may like one machine over the other but like I said, no losers only winners. What do you think?

Some friends came over tonight interested to see what I was up to , so I showed them. I never name my machines, someone mentioned "suburban assault vehicle". Not a pretty name but possibly fitting, should I name it that?
Or just camo bike, because it is what it is?

I would definitely be up for something, but not until September my between my boss, my brother and everything else I could not even think about it. My biggest challenge as far as bikes is concerned is what to do with that 75 super sport. I know the engine is stuck, but there is no head oil leak. Nice and tight. Should be a matter of unsticking and good to go.

I like engines that are oil free on the head as that means the matting surfaces are flat.

Really going for the seized super sport first? Thought for sure you'd be all over the free turning 70 engine first, That machine was closet to being complete parts wise, the SS looked almost picked clean to me.... But I'm a 550 guy.

So I've been distracted recently with this silly notion to crossover a KDX suspension on a 550 which didn't do anything like making floor space in my already crowded garage, Then there was a 500 engine that was screaming to be rebuilt, I'm waiting for new cam bolts and that goes on the shelf when it's finished for the next project. Had some clown show up wanting me to fix his 650 that he destroyed....he got it back in the same condition, didn't do a thing to it, he wasn't worthy of owning an sohc.
So even though the place has had some action, it wasn't the shelf stuffing, garage floor clearing type action that I was hoping for yet, but there is time.
