I need some input, I have a 73 CB705 that needs allot of work (it runs sometimes) but needs allot of work. Someone made me an offer for the bike to trade for his 73 CB500 that runs great does not have the original paint) but runs great. Is it worth the trade?

I guess it depends on if you want to ride, but have less power OR put in some work and not ride much for a while but end with a bike with more power.

I would not worry about original paint. Are you entering a classics show? If not, paint is paint if it is done decent.

You might also take into account which is a better physical fit for you and the kind of riding you plan.

Weigh your options and make a educated decision.

1. If you keep the 750, how much $$ will it take to get it running and where you want it to be ?
2. What is this CB500 worth , and do you really want it ?
3. Why did you buy the CB750 in the first place , and why would you want to give it up for a bike you didn't want in the first place ?

If you haven't mated for life with the 750 and can stand a divorce, then go for the 500. Better to have something you can ride more, now.

i own a 750
it would be hard to drop down to a 500 once you rode a 750
but if you don't think you can fix the 750 then it's better to ride something

     I have to agree with NICKJTC on this one........

     If the 750 appeal of cruisin' with plenty of power to spare doesn't make your socks flap or
your gonads quiver, let it shine on for now.........

     Go for the sure ride.........., 'cause it does take dedication and love; for the bikes that ain't
trottin' right now at the peak of their stride......... ;) ;)

     Other than that, I do hope you enjoy your trip through the SOHC world........ :D :D

I really value allot of your advise even though I never met any of you. I have had the 750 for about a year now and have only ridden it about 12 times. Everytime I go to ride, something else needs fixed. Now its a wire problem. The 500 runs great and he rides it every day to work. I don't do any highway riding only in town. I think I'll make the trade. Thanks for everyones input.

Take the 500 and ride it for the rest of the season while keeping a lookout for another 750...
