Modified rear passenger peg mounts on CB750
« on: June 14, 2013, 01:21:15 PM »
When I bought the bike I didn't know much about them and just thought the rear passenger peg mounts were stock. But after spending time here, and looking at other bikes I noticed that they had been modified. So after wondering about this for quite some time I've finally decided to post the question to see if anyone can shed some light or at least their $.02 on it and why this was done.

My question is why would someone go through such effort and expense to modify the rear passenger pegs just to move them toward the front of the bike some? Did they do this to mount rear sets,  purely cosmetic, or for some other reason?? This was done to both sides It was cut off, fabbed, gusseted, welded back on, and then powder coated along w/ the rest of the frame. Pics attached. If you can't see it good enough let me know and I'll take another pic later today.

thanks

On my 2 other street bikes (BMW) the passenger foot pegs are comfortable to use as alternate foot placement on long rides. The cb750's passenger pegs are too far back for this. Maybe that's why a PO moved them on your bike.

Or it could have something to do with aftermarket exhaust.

Reinforced rear set mounts. On the 750's the sweet spot is in somewhere between the stock passenger and the front pegs. Different for every person but that is why they are there

thanks Schnell that makes sense.

BJ as far as rear set's go don't those usually mount to a plate that then has something like a tie strap that goes around the frame? Kinda like the old dunstall rear sets?
