1975 CB550 carb bench sync
« on: June 14, 2013, 07:20:44 PM »
I did a carb rebuild and got around to doing the bench sync. These are the earlier carbs where all four are adjustable. So here is what I did...

  • Back out throttle stop screw so it no longer touches the stop
  • Turn each adjuster so all of the slides bottom out
  • Tighten up the adjustment nuts and set approximate idle

It looks right to me and I presume should work just fine as the carb bodies and slides are made to pretty exacting specifications. As good as using a drill bit or eyeballing the slides? Any issues with using this approach? Seems like this would assure total shutdown while still providing enough high idle adjustment.

Would this work with the newer carbs too with the fixed 2nd slide?
