Come on Godffrey, that can't be right...it doesn't credit Carpy's dad for his inventing the Cafe Racer. Next you are going to tell us Al Gore didn't invent the internet.

(Sorry, couldn't resist...haven't looked at the link...just figured it was truthful and not propaganda...)

Ha, Don't get me started on Carpy!

For all the excellent work you're putting into it, I'd get an aluminum rim.

I had to see the stance off the center stand... Big props to Harisuluv! I had to file the inside of the frame but his hoop fits perfect!. I like the angle and the lay of it......

Tomorrow I am going hunting for foam to mock up a seat..... any recommendations of foam and where to get?

Nick,

can you confirm the size of the two bolts that attach the electrical panel to the frame? I am going to use the harness that came with my basket case F, but it only came with the full harness, not the bolts that attached it and the '75 bike didn't have a harness on it.

Looks real good, Tews.  Get foam at a commercial upholstery supply such as this one below. Call em, ask em if they carry high density foam, you don't need much. Get a yard of marine vinyl while you're there for a cover.

Left front side of stator cover is not just dirty, that looks pitting from oxidation, that would require some time with several sandpaper grits to level and return it to a smooth surface. Then you could paint or polish or powder coat it...

Sounds like you need a better/more accurate build thread to follow for the GSXR? forks...

Hey Rafster

The engine doesn't have any oxidation... Its been spray painted... The outside carb bodies were sprayed, the frame has spray paint.. Even the manifold boots to the carbs have spray paint.

I think I fixed the title...Is that what you meant?

As for Rim selection;
Very much recommend 18" Front & rear, it will give you a wider verity of tire choices & better handling.
And I'll second that suggestion about going with aluminum!

Re: Tews' build GSXR front end, PARTS AND SEAT MOCK UP 8/16
« Reply #140 on: August 16, 2013, 11:26:38 AM »
This build continues at a snails pace.... I am taking my time, gathering parts and attempting to do it properly..... I waited for the seat.. I needed it to get an idea if I was able to use the stock frame for the rear.... Not looking like it....

I had my first attempt at cutting and shaping the seat.... Seat came from Roc City Café.... Great work.. Much better quality then the one I got from DCC....

Who would have thought cutting and shaping fiberglass would be itchy as #$%*..... :o :o :o...

The entire frame will be cut off and redone soon... Now I need to find a local welder who is willing to help do it and make it safe...

I want to go with the mono shock but after seeing the mock up I am not sure... I "faked" mono shock with a stock rear shock... EHHHHHH.....

I do however want to run a disk rear wheel.  I am curious if a stock 750 F spoked single disk wheel would would... I do not know why it wouldn't......

I did kinda mock up the rear sets from an 06 R6... I have all the components to run a rear disk wheel minus the wheel.....
I know it's ugly right now and now to spec but here are a few mock ups....

The seat looks to big in comparison to the tank height.... Once the rear is reframed it will sit lower and line up with the tank better....

Can someone please tell me the size of pipe the frame uses and what is the best to use?

It does look really good. Prolly will fit better too but this taillight has the turn signals as part of the taillight...

I see you went for the same seat as I did after all. Godffrey is right though it is a big back tail section.

I think the tail won't look as big as now once the rear frame is cut off and new rails are welded to the frame for the lower stance.

I do have a problem with the seat though... For some reason it is shorter then I thought.
