Looks the same as mine but it looks like my tank sits back further than yours. Did you compare measurements to the measurements on the listing? They do have a shorter version I know.

The seat is short by several inches. I measured prior to buying. It was suppose to fit. I will measure in the AM as another member stated his isn't the same length.

Lookin' good Tews.

Thanks again for the K1 bars. The upgrade in just the visual appeal & hidden wires is PHENOMENAL. One of the best upgrades I've ever done to my bike. Couldn't have done it without you.

Finally tapped the frame to mount the tank... Tap will need to be welded still. That will be done once the frame is modified. ..

Oh ya I got this today in the mail...

Tews,

The tank looks great on the frame.  I like how this is coming along.

Tews...man.... this bike is amazing already! I've been a huge fan of the gsxr frontend swap.

Definitely subscribing to this thread. I might have to use you as a source of knowledge for when my time comes to build a cb  ;)

Keep up the solid work man! Looking forward to see more updates.

I got my exhaust from them as well awhile back. They changed the design it looks like. I don't have springs to mount to the engine. Interesting.

Ya, that's super handy. I am going to do a remote filter so I won't have to take it off but this would have been nice, oh well!

Build is looking great btw.

Nice, build, all the info has been helping a lot with mine. Where you able to find someone to machine you some axles? Im having the same issue as you (finding the right 1" hub)

I am using the gsxr axle.. I have a 1" hub but as All Balls stated in an email to me... There is no such thing as a direct bolt on... Close but not a direct fit.  It is the spacers that I need machined.. This has been slow as the frame welding has been holding me up//

Tews- What size rear wheel will you be running? I am finding it difficult to find a 40 spoke 5.5", 18" wheel to keep my current setup (18 rear, 19 up front). Do you know what i would need to change if i went down to a 17" rear?

18x2.15 40 spoke aluminum rim..... look up rustyolive on here... he did a larger wheel on his 550 build. He had to fab up a swing arm....

Oh... hello! ;)  hahaha

I laced up a 18x 5.50 (drilled and punched from Buchanans) to stock cb550 hub with over sized stainless spokes/nips.

Digging the build man and pulling some ideas from it for my next project after my Frankenyammie is done. Couple questions for you.

Where at in Wisconsin are you? I went to HS in Wausau (a long time ago) and still go through there at least once a year. Heading up to the UP next month for bow season.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that GSXR front end set you back?

I am in Waukesha

I went to HS in Wausau (a long time ago) and still go through there at least once a year. Heading up to the UP next month for bow season.

UP? I am from the UP.. Well my parents are.. They are from Hurley/Ironwood area..... I wrestled Wausau West stud wrestler at state.. Didn't fair to well for me...

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that GSXR front end set you back?

I actually got a really good deal.. The seller was wanting a quick sale...I got it for 437 shipped. I did have to buy the top of the triple which was like 50 or 65 bucks shipped...

Have you seen this:

Here is a link to More info:
http://www.returnofthecaferacers.com/2013/08/honda-cb550-cafe-racer.html#more

I read and followed that build on DTT.. He offered me the hub for like 350 bucks.. To steep for me then as I got a complete wheel for much cheaper...

This build has been slowed due to the inability to weld and my friend who is in the process of moving.. I even contacted a welding company local here.. 2 different times and no call back.

Hey Nick,
If you need stuff welded, go talk to Charlie at Competition Cycle in Butler. He did all the welding on my 750 frame and the price was right.

Too, bad your so far away. I would have no problem coming over and burning in what ever you need done. About any competent shop should be able to help. Be ready to get charged one hour labor regardless if it takes them to burn it in 5 minutes.

Another option: Go buy a good decent 110 wire feed unit, get some scrap, and start teaching your self. That's what I did 8 years ago. To this day I have the same 110 unit and do ALL my own fab work. And I can get some good beads in today..

Just a thought.

Once you learn this trait, you will see endless doors opening for you. Before you know it, you all sorts of tools to support and do quality fab work.
I do tasks the most difficult way. My life is interesting.
