install CB750 speedo and Tach on a CB500
« on: June 16, 2013, 11:40:28 AM »
Hello,
This is my first post so bare with me, I'm restoring a 1973 CB500 which was a 60th bday present (bought from the original owner with 1243mi),
My question is can you install a CB750 tach and speedo on a CB500.
The size is not a problem and redline is different on tach and top speed is higher. Are the drive ratios the same. Im having trouble finding a new or almost new CB500 speedo and tach.

thanks,
Mark

750 tach has a different ratio. Look for 550 as well as 500.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

another question,
the odo reset button is missing, I'll be looking one ebay for another speedo unless I can find pieces,
Do the reset buttons screw in.
I think I will get new faceplates and rebuild these
thanks, Mark

Some have a set screw in the knob, whereas some are threaded on opposite thread of normal reset direction...

FWIW,
If you put a CB650 cam & tach drive gear in your CB500/CB550 then you can use the CB650 or CB750 tach.
