Evening all...
Was reading Thoughts of HondaMan and ran across these 1/4 mile times/speeds...

Here's the numbers I have for stock 750s:

CB750K0 : 12.60/102 MPH (1969, in Peoria, IL).
CB750K1 (my own) : 13.21/99 MPH (1970, Peoria)
CB750K2 (several) : 13.45, 13.66, 13.70, 96-98 MPH (Peoria)
CB750K2 with 17-tooth countersprocket: 12.99/101 MPH (Peoria)
CB750K2 with 18-tooth countersprocket (stock again) : 13.66/91 MPH (Denver, CO, 6800 ft altitude). NHRA says drop .5 sec for 6800'.
CB750K4 : 13.55/96 MPH best in Macomb, IL. (1974)

The gearing changed a lot on the CB750: K0 was 16T/45T sprockets, K1 was 17T/48T, K2 and later "K" were all 18T/48T sprockets stock. The tranny never changed, not did the primary drive ratio or tire sizes. The changes were due to wear problems with the drive chains.

I believe the Brough Superior is the most impressive motorcycle ever made.  World record prices too $443,000 for one a few years ago.  That's impressive.  End of debate.  ;)  Now lets all go back to our little Z1's, CB750's, Bonnies, Nortons, Harleys, Terry's black wang, or even the lowly CB450's and dream....maybe someday. ;D ;D ;D

The Brough is a mighty impressive bike for sure. I could have stolen two SS100's and an SS75(?) from the Birdwood Motor Museum back in '93, it was a hot Sunday afternoon and I was alone in the exhibit, and the side door that opened out to the carpark had been left open because back then it wasn't airconditioned. The Broughs were only about 15 feet from the door, so it would have been easy.

I did think about pushing an SS100 out into the carpark and push starting it and going for a blat thru the Adelaide Hills, but my damn honest nature got in the way and I didn't, but I did sneak a quick sit on it. (there was no CCTV back then, either) I can understand why Lawrence of Arabia was so keen on his SS100, they were a beautifully engineered bike, but lets face it, an SS100 is not, and never will be a patch on the magnificent 'Wang. (especially when it's raining) ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
