I don't disagree that the cb750 is a "faster" bike. I've been talking all along about "quicker", though.

Maybe we'll just never "know". :)

Yeah, I do know.

Like I said...... I have a 350F, 400F, 450 twin, 550 super sport, 750, 836

It's an easy direct comparison when you can get on each one of them.

At the race track there are some really hot 450/500 twins. Someone said there are no 450 go-fast parts, not so, Todd Henning among others offer plenty really cool stuff. With a proper frame they can be a great vintage race bike. In stock form they tuned up a lot of bigger bikes back in the day.

I won't enter the 450/750 argument but here's a completely irrelevant story for ya'll. Many years ago I watched a barn burner of a race at Mosport here in Canada between Henning on his 450 based racer against a true CR750 kit bike with a top rider aboard. It was an incredible race, very close. The 750 had better top end but the 500 was the better handler and they swapped the lead every lap. Eventually Todd won when the 750 crashed but it will remain one of the best races I ever saw.

OK back to the pissing contest.  ;D

Lol not a pissing contest.

On a very twisty course or road the 400f, 450T, and the 500/550 will stay right with the ol 750.

Long straight and the 750 will pull a lead the smaller bikes will not reel in.

I've found short tight tracks/roads are about weight, balance, and brakes.....less about sheer power.

Just my opinion.

kghost, so you know Mosport is a 10 turn 2.5 mile circuit with a loooong back straight, not a tight twisty track at all. In the right hands those highly developed 500 twins are giant killers, but are also nothing like the street going cousin.

The CL had lower gearing..it makes a difference.. As one who has run 17/54 on an 836 a lot, gearing can make a big difference.. Not hard to find a few mag tests..

I guess you never rode a Hayabusa.

If you're talking just Honda's then ride a CBX.

Just sayin.

Actually I think 1080,s. 60 foot times are consistently faster than a stock Busa, that is with his 836 single cams are no slouch off the line, with good clutch, and gearing..

Mate, they are like drugs.

First it just a toke every now and then........

Then on to the hard stuff.

Next thing you know there's 12 bikes in the shed and the parts guy is building an addition to his house and putting in his swimming pool.

I'd say I was an addict......but addicts go to meetings and #$%*....

cb450 is a really sweet little novelty bike...yes I have ridden a few.  It's not gonna beat a properly running 750 anywhere...engines are fragile and there are no performance parts available.  Just so you know, I don't really think the cb750 is the most impressive bike ever made either...what is?...I will let you know when I've tried them all. :D

No performance parts? Tell that to Team Hansen!

OK I am biased. I learned on my dad's 65 Black Bomber than traded it for a 1970 Candy Gold with disc brake model, price out the door, $870. I have to say the Bomber with drums front and back and 4 speed tranny was not the best bike out there. Dad used to to take a smoke break every 20 miles and push his fillings back in. That thing vibrated like a bastard! He also nearly ripped his nads off on the steering dampener knob when a prat gave him a brake test one day. 18 year old kid pulled away from a light and then slammed on the brakes. All witnessed by a cop, who asked the kid why he did it and was told "I just wanted to see if he could stop in time." I now have a rather tired 73 in the shed awaiting a resto of some type. I love the looks of the engine and can't decide which way to go with it. Just missed out on a set of pipes locally on craigslist for $150. Damn!
