LOL WTF did I miss here??////././/?

Evening to all as well!!!!!!!!!!!

Im not really into a bike being quick. One thing I have noticed is a not The so quick bike but is nimble makes for an enjoyable ride....

I took my 750 on RA this year and yes it was fast... Broke 95 MPH on the straight away up the hill but didn't want to over do it and get kicked off the track...

But last year I took the 550 out and it was a lot more fun to ride... Yes not the quickest bike. BUt around the corners it was a blast. The 750 this year was like a tank taking the corners... Hence after that day I ordered my progressive springs and I must admit, A HUGE IMPROVEMENT>.......

That said, IMHO 550 rocks for fun riding and the 750 is great for long rides..

I 100% agree with you. I love the CB750, but I don't want a "tank" as my daily rider, either. I'm 6'4 too!

I think you'll find the CB450 to be quite nimble as well as "relatively" fast for it's time. They clock in at 420-430 lbs. It was the one bike where I felt like riding on/up curbs as well as jumping on the interstate on if I had to go somewhere semi-close.

If you ever test drive it, let me know how it compares to your CB550.

I even was able to catch my CB450 from falling over (left it in gear and hit hte starter and I was behind it). My CB750 would have went.

Wait a second.. 80 % of you on here  here say 0-60 450 wont win no how..now you backpedaled and  say you cant run factory gearing.. Fenders and I said way back the CL 450 had the quick 0-60 ..this is what the whole race between the two was about..
.BTW I would love to run the tracker against a Z1... But I think the locals will only have excuses..

You are changing the rules Frank to use Lower gearing, that part evolved after Fenders started getting shot down early on, besides, I'll ride a KO 750 or an F2 750 thanks, no contest, and you know it..... ::)

Cb750 a tank?  C'mon man, you should ride a Z1, it's a beast!

Fenders, your too tall for that little toy 450, sell it.  Get a naked Wing, fastest bike out in '75.

This one?

The CB750 still feels like a "big" bike to me. I look really good on it, I must admit, but it's still a big bike.

I "think" the CB450 is considered a full sized bike.

Before I bought the CB450, I kept asking people about the size differences between the CB750 because I wanted to make sure I would fit. They are smaller, and I wouldn't want to own a bike smaller than this. I'm assuming the same size as a CB550.

Again, I love a bike I can straddle and feel like I have 100% complete control on. Same way I like my women. Don't go for tall women.

I rode two up with the CB450 to breakfast several mornings with my girlfriend. She's 5'8. I can't imagine how we looked.

Even going on our 100 mile trip last weekend on the CB750 was a little tight.

Here's my fat ass driving a CB450. I only had a couple hundred miles of driving experience at the time, so don't judge my skills. :)

I am not changiwng the rules, we said in the first couple pages the 450 CL had the lowest. Time and the Cb was also lower than the 750,s..  Do what you got to do.. ..read the first few pages we are not changing the rules..

Really? I'm a 'Wang fan, but they weren't as quick as a Z1 Steve, not even on a good day. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Not worried at all Frank, I wish i lived closer... ;D  you know this thread is about Fenders CB450 and thats the bike we've been discussing, also like i said, you know damn well a good stock 750 will smoke the 450. Maybe your having trouble reading Frank, Fenders only mentions the CL after that in his 10th post , Fenders says his 450 is faster than the 750 in his first post............

First post
Quote
I will also bet the CB450 will take the CB750 in the 1/8th mile.

5th post....
Quote
I would think twice about thinking the cb450 is slower. The cb450 makes all of its power from down low; the cb750 is opposite of this. Don't be surprised if you find out the 0-60 and 1/8 mile times are not in your favor. :)

Nice manipulation of the story mate, but a clear fail.... ::)

Hold on, hold on. It was a prediction discussing only 1/8 mile and 0-60 times and nothing more. Don't you think "smoke" is a little too strong of a word being  that we're talking about half of a second? Turns out with what kghost provided, it's even closer than what most were thinking. :)  This isn't really saying much for an engine that's almost twice as big, now is it? :)

754 is saying that the CL version will beat the CB750 1/8 and 0-60 as specs show. The performance data sheet shows him to be correct. I may even gear my CB similarly since it's not an interstate bike...maybe sometimes. So yes, please come on down with your stock CB750. :)

However, specs are specs. I think we all would be interested to see someone who has both just race them on the track against each other.

The 450s are torquey engines and are certainly not slouches.

754 gives me faith!

Let's see a race. In a safe, controlled environment on the track. Same driver. If the CB750 wins in the 1/8 or the 0-60, it's not going to be by much at all. And like 754, I won't be surprised if the CB450 is the victor.

I wonder if Bob Hansen can provide some input here. If anyone knows about Honda CB450s (and probably about CB750s), it would be him.

I'm sending an email right now. Will post the reply when I get it.

Re mag tests.. Factories have put blueprinted or tweaked bikes out there to test, and some mags use far better riders.. Like Peewee Gleason.. So results on the street may vary.

Personally I think KO 750 are at least as fast as 77/78. F.. But I could be wrong.. I know some roadtested great times , but. The ones I encountered did not hold up that reputation.
But consider this.. What did the 450 have that the CB 750 did not.. And almost every four built after CB 750single cams had the same thing..

Keep dreaming fenders.....

I posted comparable test data with 2 bikes of the same era by the same magazine.

The 750 feels big because your not accustomed to bigger.

A GL1000 feels bigger than a 750

A Harley or Japanese cruiser of the 1500 cc range feels like a barge compared to the 750.

It's all relative.

A go cart feels fast because your 6 inches off the pavement.
