I appreciate your maturity. It would be a bummer if my project log was filled with cb750 fanboys who can't see past their rose colored glasses. I'm not responding to them simply because I refuse to sink down to their level.

And yes, I believe the cb450 is the most impressive bike ever made.
And I believe it will best the cb750 in 0-60.

Or you just can't live up too your own expectations.... ;D ;D
Your first line describes yourself, maybe if you took of the rose colored glasses you would see the light... ;D

Here's the numbers I have for stock 750s:

CB750K0 : 12.60/102 MPH (1969, in Peoria, IL).

From Bonhams...
Quote
CB450 departed from Honda’s usual practice in a number of ways, in particular its use of twin overhead camshafts, torsion-bar valve springs and constant-velocity carburetors. The tubular frame - replacing Honda’s traditional fabricated spine type - was another departure from the norm. With a top speed of over 100mph and a standing quarter-mile time in the 14-second bracket,

Fenders, if your 450 will do a 12.60 @102 MPH i'll eat my hat.....with sauce.... ;D   Oh and one more thing, horsepower isn't what you want for the 0-60 mate, its torque and i'm afraid the 750 has more torque than the "impressive" 450.

I am sure that the international press would have gone bonkers if the new {at the time} 750 was slower than the 450, I mean seriously.... ::)

Some reading for you....2nd most impressive engine EVER.... ;D

A cb750 running a 12.6?  Um, a bit aggressive? Btw, this was never about quarter mile times.

Turn back a few pages and you would see me talk about torque for acceleration, but it got quickly shot down.

Don't think the cb450 doesn't have torque. That's a mistake; a huge one to make. Don't forget that the cb450 weighs 120lbs less, either.

Team Hansen already posted the early cb450 and cb750 track times. The cb750 already lost the 0-60 battle.

theres only one huge mistake here man,,thats starting with talking #$%*,a properly tuned 500 will stay in front of your 450,,a 550 will embarrass it,,and a 750 will insult it!

The latest edition of "Old Bikes Australasia Special Edition Japanese Classics 2" has an article on the CB750K1 on page 22 and an article on the CB450 on page 34, (does this mean that a CB750 is 14 pages more impressive?)

The CB450 article begins with "in 1966, Honda fired its first big guns - but better was to come".

Ripping good read this mag.

Team Hanson did nothing.. :o

I have read the whole thread and owned both bikes in question {and sh1tloads more}and now you want to school me on torque versus horse power, you are a funny guy.....If i were you i would stop assuming everyone here knows nothing about bikes, Terry gave you a good lesson on that earlier.
You need to learn to read mate....not selectively either... The Early 750 has MORE torque than the 450, quite a bit actually... And as you like to say, "don't forget" , team Hanson are or were a race team and Bob Hanson actually worked closely with Honda on the development of the 750,  which is completely irrelevant anyway as they took that article you quoted from a bike magazine and didn't actually do it themselves so anyone could have ridden the bikes and we'll never know any more about it.  Besides you would have never heard of Hanson until starting this thread in the first place.... A lot of hot air from someone thats never ridden an early 750,  so has nothing to compare with... :o

The 12.6 was run in Illinois back in 69 with a stock KO 750.  ask Rafter for the source..

Also by Bob Greene, Hot Rod Magazine, May 1969 quoting Honda's official numbers

Quote
their top speed figure for the four seems fully
credible at 125 mph. Their standing quarter-mile claim is just as mean at 12.6 seconds.

Thats 2 sources , one being Honda, with the same time....

Fenders...I'm still just joking around, and I love twins just as much as anybody.  I am on my third cb350 and rode a cb360 for years, and loved every mile of it...then I tried out a friends cb750k2 and my mind was pretty much blown.  But I hear you on the lightness and nimbleness of a twin.  It's fun!  ....but  a stock 450 is still not beating a stock 750 anywhere...and I apologize for trying to get dudes to mess with ya over at the twins.  It's just the internet anyway. ;)

No probably not.

I've been pretty factual thru this ordeal.

I have a 400 and a 450. The 450 is faster straight line.

The 400 is more pleasant to ride tho.

I love it when people keep coming back to this thread and biitching about it. Oooh, it's annoying, oooh, it's a circle jerk, but they keep coming back anyway, to look like they're somehow "above" those of us who are just enjoying the mindless banter, and Fender's equally mindless posts.

They're either voyeurs, or masochists, because regardless of their apparent indignation, they still keep coming back.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

It's piss on a 450 in a straight line Eric, and while the 450 was a pretty ordinary handler, it'd probably keep up with the XS in the twisties, Yammy 650's were pretty awful handlers.......... ;D

Yea I keep coming back because I hate unread threads on my list. Not because Im subscribed. I like how fenders comes back and says one post and then there's 10 guys pissing themselves yelling at him that the 450 ain't #$%*. Then its proven it has a better 0-60 time and then you guys just say, ya well uuuhhh 750 has a better 1/4 it will never keep up shutup fenders. And this sums up this whole thread..

Just saying. Not trying to argue with anyone but it just looks bad.

I here you Goofy, but I don't think anyone here has ever stated that the 450 ain't #$%*. It's just not a CB750, but in no way does that make it a bad bike. It's just a different bike.

It's to elevate the discourse, Terry.  Now how about a little Mozart...now he was impressive. ;D

The early XS650's were known for poor handling but from 74 on they improved the frame though the early bikes had a bit more power.
