longer throttle cables for CB750?
« on: June 23, 2013, 07:33:02 PM »
My 78 CB750 had tall handlebars on it, sort of "mini apes", when I bought it, the ergonomics were perfect for me. I had worn out throttle cables, despite my best googling attempts, I could not source extended throttle cables for it, and the replacements were a couple inches short. I ended up buying a set of stock bars from a member here to fix the throttle cable problem, but now the ergonomics are just so-so. My brake line and clutch cable are plenty long enough, but I really would like to put the old bars back on, does anyone know of a source for extended or custom throttle cables?

Part of the problem is 77-78 is apparently different than 70-76.

Appreciate the links, but they both sell overlength for 70-76, only stock for 77-78. But they and motion pro do custom lengths(very mixed reviews here on the Motion Pros), I will probably have to go that route. 77-78 are the bastard stepchildren, apparently.

Yes, the length of "free cable" beyond the sheath is different (longer by about 6mm) for the 77-78 with the PD carbs. The earlier ones look identical until you lay them side-by-side.
