73 cb500 clutch adjustment
« on: June 19, 2013, 02:04:21 PM »
I have read to adjust my clutch i just loosen the locking bolt and turn the big screw until it starts to tighten and then back off a smidgen, but what about the adjustment screw on the bars? do I put it all the way in or out or in the middle while doing the big screw?

You should leave the "handlebar side" in as much as possible, then after adjusting at the engine case, bring the HB side out  to fine tune.  And as the cable stretches over time, keep adjusting at the HB.  I leave HB side out about 1 1/2 full turns, this way I have a little room either way if needed, but usually it's not the case.

Loosen (tighten all the way in) on both ends of the cable, then make the adjustment at with the big screw.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing twice.
