Cracked speedo face.
« on: August 05, 2006, 08:57:58 AM »
This happened a few weeks ago. It doesn't affect the performance of the speedo, but looks like a pimple on a pigs bum. Anyone had the same thing happen?  No one seems to supply just the speedo face, but I don't want to throw away an otherwise sound instrument, and I'm not sure I have the capability to cut a replacement out of thin plastic. Maybe I should take it apart and remove the face completely....I know how fast I am going at certain revs in top gear. It would be cool to look at the guts working...

I would pick up a used speedo and either use it for parts or as a replacement. They can be had cheap enough and are readily available.

Hem, hem. Much as I would like to brag about my manly speedly risk taking, alas it ain't so. There was a small crack around one of the centre screws and I suppose vibration over time did the rest....

Remove the face, and add a dot to the lens where 55 and 100 are. looking at the guts of things is cool.
No.
