« on: June 21, 2013, 08:05:05 AM »
Thought i was finished with oil leaks   >:(  riding the other day i noticed some oil on my gear lever rubber and my boot..not much...So i have a oil leak from the bottom of my stator cover, small drip...is there a oil plug in the bottom..or am i looking at the oil seal behind the stator (crank seal)

You sure it's not the oil pump or shifter seal? I think that's more common on our bikes.

let your bike sit for a little after riding and then look on the under side of your stator to see if the oil is concentrating at the bottom of the stator on the outside of the cover. If so, check to make sure the bolts on your stator cover are tight. I pulled mine a while back and had a leak. I tightened mine up and no more leak.

If you do have to pull it and replace the gasket you can still get those from a Honda dealer and they are not too pricey.

Well curoisty got the better of me ..i just had to take a look, removed the stator cover, saved the gasket...rested the cover on a block of wood and there was the small leak coming from a plunger at the bottom of the crankcase..pulled it out and there is a round oil seal that was kinda old, pulled it off and found a new one in my box of O ring seals. problem solved....crank seal ok..one of the POs spit the cases at some time,..signs of sealant
