Assuming you have a new battery........or at least fully charged in good condition.........start the bike and ride it. Putting the motor under a load is the best and only way to break-in a fresh motor. The routine...........warm it for a minute or so........ride a few blocks and return to check the oil and be sure all lines are intact. Then go for a ride of a few miles at various speeds and hopefully a few stop signs. Check the bike over for anything that may need attention. If you have the time, go for a nice ride with hills to load the motor and set the rings........don't exceed 5,000 rpm. Otherwise park it and wait for a good opportunity for that longer ride. Try to stay out of traffic to avoid overheating.......and by all means........NEVER LET THE MOTOR IDLE longer than a traffic light interval.
If you have a good battery, it should not require the TENDER unless parked for more than a few weeks. The TENDER cannot save or restore a weak battery.
