Anyone else anticipating this?
« on: August 03, 2006, 10:32:10 AM »
I know this brings my inner geek to light, but man- this will be coming out when my son is 5 1/2 years old...Perfect timing.  I can't wait.  It is being directed by the same guy who did 'The Island' and 'Miami Vice', and Speilberg is producing it so it should be top notch.

i was till i discovered who the writer and the director are.

now i'm just sadly awaiting yet another hollywood explosion fest with a cheesy unlikely love story tacked on.

I'm with you on the writer, but I thought the director would do pretty good- you have to admit, he's done some real blockbuster movies.  I was wrong by the way about him directing Miami Vice.

I just hope Megatron will be really bad ass and say stuff like, "Die Autobots!", "I will crush you!", and, "Let the slaughter begin!"  And of course, "Shutup Starscream!"

I think the downfall of the series was when Megatron/Galvatron turned soft :'(

Okay, now you guys know for sure that I am a supergeek.  Not that there was ever any doubt. ;D

I just remembered something really funny, as a kid, it was an insult to say that someone likes Go Bots.

Ha ha ha ha,  "your mom smokes crack!"
"oh yeah, well I saw you playing with Go Bots!"

                   "Ooooo, Burn!"

 >:( >:(  :( :) :-\ ;D

you say that like it's a good thing.

to quote team america:
"I miss you more than Michael Bay missed the mark when he made Pearl Harbor.
I miss you more than that movie missed the point and that's a lot girl.
...
cause pearl harbor sucks, just a little bit more than i miss you "

sorry i just don't dig what that guy's put out.  completely subjective.

cheers.

Dude, don't tell me you didn't like the Lionel Richie Collection!  That's the goods, right there!

JK.  Yeah, I know Pearl Harbor was a real douche movie, but I liked Armageddon, both Bad Boys, and the Rock.

My main focus is that along with the big names, they should have BIG $$$$ duckies to spend on the CG.  Oh well, we'll see.

never saw it, but methinks you and i might have an entirely different DVD collection.

not to say i don't dig a good cheesey blow everything up, minimum of 10 explosions in the preview movie on a rainy hungover sunday morning, but i never expect much from anything to which michael bay is attached.

again to quote the "south park guys:"
"he's a genius.  he just doesn't know he's making comedies."

though, i can't remember if they were talking about Bay or Bruckheimer on that one....i think it's Bay though.

I'm cracking up on this end, I was just kidding about Lionel Richie.

I love movies of all sorts, from Dr. Stranglove to Last of the Mohicans.  And the more I think about it, None of the movies that I mentioned have I seen more than once :-\  I guess I didn't like them that much after all.  More than anything, I am hoping against hope for my son's sake.  If he has to grow up with Power Rangers being the coolest show on tv, I am afraid his wife will push him around when he's older :-*

do him, and yourself, a favor.

go buy the box set of the originals.

not that they were stellar--when you watch them now, they're still ultra cool, but you start to realize how crappy the production quality really was.

got it.  and the original movie.  he likes it, but the  problem is that there needs to be a good current series on tv with a linup of toys that match.  It seems like whatever cartoon it is, these are the things that make a kid like it.  just like us adults, they also fall prey to advertisements.

My two boys were into Transformers when they first became popular in the '80s. I think that the film will be a hoot......but I have to admit that when I saw the trailer at the movies I thought that it was going to be a serious 'hard' sf film, until the Transformer image showed up.

I'll probably wait till DVD, but I'll see it. I loved the Transformers when I was a kid. I even had a few Go Bots (gasp!) But they sucked. It was like, make one fold and convert from plane to robot.

Optimus Prime kicks ass. The movie will probably suck, but it won't matter. All of us 30 year olds will still like it.

Pearl Harbour movie is worth if only for that gorgeous girl called Faith Hill singing in the soundtrack...  ;D
