Oh my!

I had an all black 67 coupe when I was young. My favorite Vette out of all made to date.

I had a model as a kid. Something out of this world in the sixties in Ireland. I've loved them ever since.
Pity they use cart springs for suspension.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I'm in Colorado Springs and it's news to me. I sent the link to some members of the local Corvette Club.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

For what ever reason Vette's just don't float my boat but there is one just one that I would definitely make room for in my garage for if I were to win the lottery and it's one of these wicked girls.

It was an urban legend until the guy died last year and they found the car to prove it was not a legend but fact. The next door neighbor, 10 yards away, had heard the legend but never saw the car until last year. People who had heard about the legend had asked the old man about it but he denied owning it for 45 years. i mean, really, did you look at all the documented pics and still feel it's a legend?

Ya, it is. He also has 4 extra emblems on the air cleaner that were not factory. The guy was eccentric, what can you say?

My dad had a 1962 FI back in the day. It was a toss up between that and a AC Cobra 289. The vettes are going for $50K now but the Cobras are going for $100K+ for a 289. He sold it a couple years later because it kept getting ran into by other idiot drivers. He thought it was cursed.

My Aunt and Uncle had a 1968 L88 427 tri-power roadster they bought brand new. It kept getting broken into the the wheels stolen off of it. So they sold it a couple of years later for $4000. That was a fast car.

Our neighbor scored a 67 427 coupe matching #s from a woman who's husband had left her and the car in an old garage. The neighbor paid her $5000 for it but his wife made him go back and give her another $5000! When he finished restoring the car he had offers of $70K + from guys off the street. I heard it got wrecked and totalled. That was 15 years ago.

I love them but they seem to be a PITA to own unless they are kept in a safe secure garage.

Seems like a waste...I mean i appreciate how pristine the car is but it will likely never be driven. No one will "enjoy" the car for why it was built.

But then I'm one of those people who doesn't understand the point of owning a car or motorcycle and never getting it out to enjoy it. I dont believe in trailer or garage queens.

I'll take my lashings now...

I'd have to agree too HOWEVER though I'd never let a trailer queen waste space in my own garage I do have to give credit to those that do pamper their collector cars because they'd all be trashed or non existent by know if guys like me were to own them all. About 15 years ago I had an immaculate 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix with an RA3 400, it was an absolute beautiful car and I loved it however it was in such good shape that I was always paranoid about it. Priorities changed and it had to go even though I hated selling it but once it was gone I found myself so much more relieved and not stressed so much because I didn't have to worry about it anymore. Lesson learned there is that if it's so nice or valuable that it makes you paranoid all the time then I don't want it.

My brother in law had a '66 convertible years ago. His brother totaled it one night, before I got a chance to do it.

Here's a pic of my Uncle being reunited with his 69 Boss 429 this past weekend, he had owned the car for over 20 years and finally sold it around 12 years ago. An older brother of mine treated him to a trip to Connecticut where the current owner of the car lives and had invited my brother and Uncle for the weekend to check it out and let my Uncle drive it again. The smile on his face says it all. My brother said he and my Uncle were like 2 kids in a toy store, while my Uncle couldn't get enough of seeing his Mustang again my brother was drooling over all the other cars the current owner had in his collection. I don't mean to hijack a Corvette thread but it does show that owners of cool cars never forget their cars.

Hi-Jack away! My Father was a young gear head! He served in the Air Force. He built a a 68 stingray with an L-88 crate engine! It was yellow also side pipes and a coupe! T-tops. 4 spd. He had (has ) a friend at Pratt and Whitney In CT that did nothing but tune vettes in the late 70s early 80s! As a kid I loved to show the few friends in my small town that pallet and box of that l-88! It was stamped for of road use only! But it was in that yellow car! Divorce and whatever let that l-88 engine to near Stafford Springs CT.(car had a 396 stuck in it to sell. That guy wrecked the car!) Its on a stand with a black 67 coupe that has been sitting since 1982 give or take a year! Anyone in that area on this thread?

Kinda like a museum quality sandcast with <500 miles on it? You would never ride it on the street. Too rare and valuable but borderline useless except to stare at.
