16" Rear Wheel
« on: August 04, 2006, 02:25:50 PM »
The more and more I see them the more and more I like them.

Now I want one. So, What do I need to know before I purchase one?

Hey there  yes they are nice been running one on my 73 750 K now Im running a comstar and if you go that route you need to modify a bit  the mod is grinding down the lip on the  brake drum  NOW dont anybody start giveing me flack about doing that it works and has worked for 25+ years and couple years ago I set my sisters 74 750 up with one now be carefull some of them were 17 inch now if you just want to go with the spoke type  you can buy the rim and spoke kit have it laced BUT make sure who ever laces it knows how to do it on the 16 inch there is a differant way than a normal 18 inch because of the short distance with the 16s so go for it and have fun seven fifty four ever  Craig  in Maine
seven fifty four ever its not the destination its the journey Ive been collecting these old dinasours for 33 years . they are quite an ICON

I am a huge fan of the 16'' wheel.
The tire looks HUGE , even though it's only a 130mm.

I got lucky and bought mine on Ebay allready laced up , and all I did was tighten the spokes, and sand off the chrome finish and install. I am actually picking up a CB550 which I am gonna do 16'' wheels front and rear, for a Exile look... ;D

I lucked out and bought a Harley 16x3 rim today with 50 miles on it. It just needs to be polished.  Do you still use the stock front tire with that set up?

hey Proteal where did you find that seat.  I have been looking for one similar for my 74 CB550.  I want one like that because it finishes the rear when you get rid of the rear fender which I am planing to do once I get mine back on the road ( carb rebuild, ignition switch relocation, headlight ears replaced, boots replaced, front brakes, rear tire, switching headlight to newer halogen, the list goes on..............................)  Let me know I like it and am planing on cutting off the excess sh*t from my bike and I think that seat finishes the rearend perfectly for the look I am going for.
