Ok Gents, I searched the forum as I sit here in the airport with no luck. The Speedo gauge that was on my 72 500 was destroyed a while back. I searched out a replacement gauge here on the forum and made the rookie mistake of only checking that I picked up the correct smaller diameter gauge.
What I did not realize was that the chrome gauge holder and gauge back could also be different on the smaller gauges. I disassembled my new used gauge, painted the housing and applied my custom gauge face decal. You can imagine my disappointment when I went to mount it and it didn't fit the gauge mount
Do I need to find a correct replacement gauge or can I just search for a correct chrome gauge holder?
My original gauges only have one bulb in each instead of two. Also the chrome gauge holder should be pretty open. All I can find are the incorrect fully enclosed chrome holders.
Dave500 or any of the other 500 guys, can you share some figment knowledge with me for these gauges? I have attached a pic of my gauge mount if that helps. I have a pic of the back of my tach to show which chrome holder I have.
