Topic: Remove and Install CB500 engine on its side

Hello,
       I found a post once that showed a  cb500 engine installed in the frame with the engine on its side. Does anyone have a post and/or pics of this being done. Or is it easier to install with the frame upright. Newly painted frame don't want to scratch.

Remove the oil filter and frame should drop over the engine, as it lay on the right side.  You can also wrap the frame with rags or towels wherever necessary.

And when in doubt about scratching something, wrap it in masking tape.

I had to remove the sump cover on my wife's 400 for this trick to work. Unfortunately, I learned about it AFTER I did my 500.

Thanks for the info, opted not to power coat the frame and paint it instead. Will have to be a little careful as not to scratch the paint. Going to try a new clear coat, SprayMax 2K Clear Coat, suppose to be harder than regular.

SP995 Nu-Cast™ Aluminum
SP145 Gloss Clear

I painted the engine about a month ago so its had time to dry, I've already spelt gas on the engine and it didn't effect the the surface.

Also exhaust studs are good to remove if your engine has them.
