Surging
« on: August 04, 2006, 07:16:40 PM »
The 750 seems to be running great but I cranked it a bit today and
it seems to surge when it hits 7k on up. It's a stock bike as far as I know,
with a k&N air filter in the box. I've had the carbs syncroed, new plugs,
and set the points (still waiting on my electronic coversion to get here).
I plan to recheck the points sometime Saturday and I've not adjusted
the cam chain yet.

Surging could be a slight fuel imbalance - does it happen straight away at 7k or after a some elapsed time at a constant 7k - any chance of doing a plug chop- - that may give you an indication if its fuel related by the colour of the plugs ???

thats my brain thoughts

If you are checking plugs this may help.

Great article. The surging is at full throttle now. It would seem that the main jet is the problem, but I also run at 3000 feet so
perhaps I'll run it down off the mountain one day and see if it still surges. Could be an altitude thing. I'm slipping cause I forgot
that tidbit. Been running fuel injection to long :)
