Regearing a 650C
« on: June 28, 2013, 04:30:48 AM »
My 650C runs great and I want to use it to ride longer distances.  I was thinking that a larger drive sprocket would reduce the RPM to a reasonable level at 70 to 75 moles per hour. I have a rev commander webpage that says the RPM at 75 will be reduced by 800 RPM if I go from 17 stock tooth sprocket to 19 tooth sprcket.  Has anyone done this with their bike of any size and what was the effect on stops and starts?

I don't think there is enough room to use a 19 tooth sprocket.

You might look into reducing the number of teeth on the rear one.

+1 the 17 is stock on the Customs if I remember right and they are pretty big especially with the chain on.

Let it rev, won't hurt it a bit.  Mine has done numerous days sitting between 6-7k and it seems a lot happier there than at 5k and below ;D

I put a 18 on mine.  A couple I have had to modify the chain guard under the cover but a couple not.  19 I think would be to big and too much for the engine depending on the rear.
