Nic ; Thanks for the link to you current build. Super Sweet bike you've built ! Don't feel bad about the purple, I like purple as well ! And I can see the metalflake in the paint ! I realize everyone has their own feeling about how their bike should look, that being said, you've done yourself and the bike Proud !!! I noticed you've not said if this motor is stock or if you've done anything inside (performance wise) . If you've done any performance mods, will the step down from the 2" down to your mufflers restrict the exhaust flow any? ...cougar...
Thanks mate, the engine has all new bearings, chains and tensioner/adjusters, rebore 1st over, cycleX hi flow valves and bronze guides, kibble springs, CX-1 cam and a little porting, the PO has had someone ,er "rebuild" the top end
it had not been fired up since then luckily but someone also has hacked out 3 of the combustion chambers, not full hemi but about half way and only 3 so I got out the trusty dremil and matched the last one and tidied up the other 3 best I could. I CC'd the head and it all looked pretty even. When I finally fired up the bike after bench syncing the carbs I put on the gauges and the carbs were spot on so the cambers must be pretty even. The previous er, "mechanic" had also forgotten to put in the cam chain slipper and the two outer Orings under the cam blocks, nice. There was also some rock ard black stuff on each side of the head gasket, it was everywhere and I had to chip it out of all the stud holes etc, the cam chain jointing link was bent as well.
The mufflers are straight through, they have a long baffle with wading around the outside but there's no restriction, the step down won't hurt it at all, 2" to 1 1/2", actually I'm not rapt in the note, a bit barky, esp with a bit of throttle, I really liked the Dunstall decibel silencers but they are long gone now.
Cheers mate. Nic.
