runs like a bat through third, like a dog from there
« on: August 05, 2006, 03:17:02 PM »
through to  60 mph or so, my bike will run strong, then, for instance, whin I've set my speed at 70mph for the turnpike, the bike will  lose power just enough to slow 2-4 mph, then return to its former faster speed, in cycles of every 4-5 seconds. I have 3 ohm coils , Dyna S ignition, Ngk D7EA plugs. I thought it was a fuel feed issue, so I cleaned out the strainer in the petcock housing and put in two new in-line fuel filters. changed the oil yeaterday.air mix screws are turned out one and a quarter.

how can I get rid of this surge/loss of power at highway speeds?

Just for the sake of comment. It could very well be a fuel feed issue. What if the flow problem is above the petcock? Thats where my flow problem was. Easy enough to know. Just pull the fuel line and watch the flow from the petcock.

Yep, check the venting on your gas cap.
