What kind of triple trees are these?
« on: June 30, 2013, 04:22:14 PM »
These are used on a couple of the Garage Co. bikes (awesome bike, IMHO). Any idea what they are from? Are they just using the uppers or a complete triple tree?

my first guess is Ceriani...is there a pic that shows the rest of the forks?
If it works good, it looks good...

Yup Ceriani roadrace, or also known as GP fork..  With the smooth top tree, you can also get them with handlebar mounts.. Prepare to pay a bit for a set.
They look great , I love the look of them.

If you can get just the trees, you can use them. With OEM forks..35mm.

I have a folder full of these bikes, about four different ones. I know they won't handle the best, blah, blah, blah...but DAMMIT BOY!, are the not Bad A$$!

racers into the the '70's would certainly choose them over stock...so set up properly I'm certain they would be an improvement...but not necessarily enough of one to offset the collector value...

I was speaking more of the bikes, than the forks. The bikes have slightly raked front ends and hard tail struts.

That is the exact same fork set up I had on my XR1327 before I swapped over to late model Hawg Halter 4piston calipers. Ceriani forks, Hurst Airheart single piston calipers with those long brackets. That was the complete package for the brakes on Kimtab from the factory. Only difference is I have the handle bar mount top tree and those in the pic have the forks offset much more than mine.

Mine are all polished. Chrome is nothing but unwanted weight and a #$%* to deal with when it goes bad. These just need a little TLC every now and then and they look brand new. I paid $100 for those forks brand new around 1975. They're worth 10X's that now or more when you can find them. There is one set of those wheels on Ebay right now for $1100.

For a second I thought the smooth top tree might just be a lower tree with the "ARCES" name polished off but the lower tree uses a pinch bolt with a nut instead of just the bolt that doesn't protrude the other side,  plus the wholes for the stem are different.
