I know it's been asked before but which carb sync gauge set do you like best and why?

As long as it works, no preference. The Morgan Carbtune packs away nice and small. A set of four vacuum gauges is cheaper but bulkier, just match the readings (connect all four to a single vacuum source and set the dials to read the same). The mercury carb sticks (if still available now that mercury is too dangerous for we civilians to handle) work great but must be kept standing up or the mercury spills out.
Other methods are discussed here now and again. I haven't read of one that sounds workable yet. I think you need four independent vacuum measurements.

agree.  Don't buy anything with mercury.  Many use a simple dial gauge type, they are nothing fancy but they work.  I have Morgan Carbtune.  It's nice and compact and stows into a pouch.  Just to make less clutter in my garage, I paid extra for a pouch.  Worth it?  Totally for me!  But does it work any better than others?  Most probably not.....

But I do like the looks of that Morgan Carbtune.

I like my vintage Honda factory gauge for obvious reasons. Bought em from a ex-racer a couple years ago but see em on eBay occasionally

I was thinking of getting the emgo set, saw a post from before that for $89.95 you could get the gauges and the tool but now can't find the post or the site it was from, anyone else remember it?

Found the post it's saber cycles that has a set with the tool for $99.95 made by barracuda, think if this tool works on my 80 650 it would be the way to go

I have this one although bought several years ago before the price exploded.  I like it because all of it fits in one blow molded case and it has all the adapters.  The valves which are necessary to dampen gauge fluctuation are also built in and seem better than the cheesy plastic ones in other kits.  I checked mine with a hand operated vacuum pump when I got it and all the gauges were reasonably close to each other.  Mostly it depends on how much you want to spend.  I could buy another motorcycle for the price they want for some of the digital units.

But if it doesn't work, it'll be because there's something wrong with your bike and you're the only person who ever had a problem.

Didn't mean the gauges, I meant the adjuster tool, does it fit the locknuts on my carbs

When you get the dial type vacuum gauges you will then realize what a pain in the @$$#$! the manometer type was, and you will NEVER go back.

Replace the rubber hoses with something better.
The hoses that come with the gauges are junk.

So if that's the case jcwhitney sells the emgo for 58, looks like that's what I'll go with

Update: would've ordered from jcwhitney until they wouldn't accept my order because I was sending it to somewhere other than my billing address

I have a Morgan Carb Tune.   Paid $120.00 including shipping.   No calibrating like the dial types and more accurate and easy to read.

Here is a manometer I make today it uses tubing, 2 stroke oil, and hinges with wing nuts are used to dampen the pulsing of the carbs.  I had the same exact guage lucky suggested but number 3 broke and I can no longer zero it out.

You will need valves to keep the needle from bouncing all over.  If your getting the dial gauge make sure you have valves or a way to pinch the tubing like the hinges.

I would not pay for manometer when you can make one with all parts and 2 stroke oil for less than $30.  Nice part of making one is that it can be any size or shape.  I made one like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2J_N4VVGGo but am using 2 stroke oil.  Hope it works out ok.

I like my mercury manometers but I think I'd opt for gauges over the manometers that use lightweight fluid with crossovers or reservoirs that have to be accurately filled or damped or whatever. From what I've read they're a pain in the neck to use.

I have the motion pro one. The secret is to follow the directions... otherwise you could lose your fluid.

I would get a good quality dial vacuum gauge with valves.  Tired my homemade manometer and number 4 had so much vacuum it wanted to suck all the fluid out.  After messing around for a while I gave up and was able to get my dial gauge working good enough to get all 4 carbs fairly close.

Ideally you will be able to zero out the gauge, or have something that is so accurate it won't need any messing with.

Here is a pic of setup same as Lucky posted but I use hinges with wing nuts to control the needle bounce it works great.  Very little bounce on the needle.

If someone is a pro with the liquid setup I'd like to hear what I am dong wrong.  Don't want to toss it quite yet.

Anyone got a link for some extra nice dampening valves maybe brass? Not the cheap plastic crap from a fish tank.
